Thyroid imbalances occur when your thyroid produces too few or two many hormones. The thyroid is a small gland in the base of your neck that is responsible for your metabolism and energy levels. The primary thyroid hormones are triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). These hormones can sometimes get out of balance and may need a little bit of help getting back to normal levels. Thyroid deficiency and replacement therapy can help to equalize your thyroid hormone levels.

The ideal candidates for thyroid deficiency and replacement therapy are those individuals who experience symptoms of hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. People with hyperthyroidism may experience heart palpitations, anxiety, weight loss, heat intolerance, and muscle weakness. People who may have hypothyroidism have symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, constipation, dry skin and hair, hair loss, puffiness or swelling in the face, muscle aches and weakness, heavy menstrual periods, brittle hair and nails, depression, and cold intolerance.
At the Institute of Anti-Aging Medicine and Skin Spa, we measure free T3 and free T4 levels as well as TSH. We also check for thyroid antibodies, which can help determine the presence of an autoimmune thyroid disorder. If a thyroid disorder is diagnosed quickly, treatment may be able to prevent permanent damage to your thyroid gland. Dr. LeConey assesses your current levels of all of your thyroid hormones. He can then customize an individually tailored thyroid replacement therapy regimen designed specifically for you.
There is no downtime associated with thyroid deficiency and replacement therapy. Dr. LeConey’s strategy of thyroid treatment focuses on a combination of T3 and T4 hormone replacement to bring your levels into an optimal range. After your customized treatment plan has been determined and started, you will notice changes in the areas that may have been lacking.
