Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for the Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ treatment are individuals who wish to remove hair from their legs, arms, bikini, back, chest, stomach, face, or neck. These candidates also have realistic expectations of their goals. The ideal candidate also has colored hair, as this laser does not work on gray or white hair.

How It Works

Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ works by using laser energy to gradually heat the hair follicles in the subcutaneous tissues until the follicles can no longer produce new hair. This technology also uses a patented DualChill™ treatment tip to keep the surface of your skin cool and comfortable during the treatment. Additionally, Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ uses a sweeping motion to ensure that the entire target area is tended to without leaving any hairs behind.

Recovery and Results

Laser hair removal does not require any downtime, and because treatment is so quick, patients can be back to their normal routine without interrupting their day. It is important to follow all post-treatment instructions and avoid direct sunlight to the treatment area, picking or scratching the treated skin, and plucking any new hairs that may grow between treatments.

To achieve optimal results, patients may require six to nine treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on the area. Yearly maintenance is also suggested.

FAQS

You can expect results from a series of relatively short sessions. A trained laser technician performs each treatment and you are free to return to normal activities immediately after each session, with respect to working out.

There are a number of factors that can affect the success of a series of hair removal treatments, but generally, after each treatment, you will see a noticeable, permanent reduction in the number of hairs that re-grow in the treatment area. Remember that the laser only disables the follicles of the hairs that are in the "growing phase" at the time of the appointment. The follicles that are in the "resting phase" will begin to "wake up" over the course of the next few weeks. Typically, it will require 6-9 treatments to permanently reduce the number of re-growing hairs. Treatments are recommended every 4-6 weeks depending on the area treated. Maintenance sessions may be required, typically once or twice a year.

While pain tolerance is subjective, many patients often describe the sensation as soothing as a “hot stone massage” on most body areas, more sensitive areas can feel slightly more intense.

No. Alma hair removal requires no “down time” or recovery time. You can have a treatment and return to work or school immediately.

Most importantly, before you undergo laser treatment, you must not expose the treated area to the sun or tanning beds. A sunscreen of SPF30, or preferably a total sun block of SPF50, should be applied whenever exposure to the sun is unavoidable. It is also important to shave the area being treated within 24 hours before your appointment. It is recommended to wait at least
4 weeks after having any waxing, threading, tweezing, bleaching treatments or use of a depilatory cream before starting laser hair removal and discontinue completely during the treatment series.

Hyfrecator

As we age, our skin begins to change, and more marks (like moles, skin tags, and cherry angiomas) begin to appear. A hyfrecator is a type of medical equipment used during electrosurgery to eliminate those unwanted lesions on the skin that can sometimes cause embarrassment or self-consciousness.

Benefits

  • Minimally invasive
  • Highly Effective
  • Quick

Ideal Candidates

Almost every individual with a qualifying skin condition is a good candidate for a hyfrecator treatment; however, patients with pacemakers and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not undergo this treatment. Patients with the following skin concerns are the best candidates for hyfrecator treatment:

  • Skin Tags
  • Cherry Angiomas
  • Fibromas
  • Seborrheic Keratosis
  • Sebaceous Hyperplasia

How It Works

The hyfrecator sends electrical impulses into the body with the use of a probe. This provokes a micro-injury, which will then burn off individual skin lesions. The hyfrecator emits an alternating current that is low in power but has a high frequency to more easily remove blemishes while sealing off bleeding.

Recovery and Results

Patients will experience little-to-no downtime after their hyfrecator treatment. The treatment sites will become crusty and fall off over the next few days, though it is strongly advised that you do not pick at the treated area as it heals. Applying vaseline to the site will aid in the healing process.

Results are typically visible in about two weeks; however, depending on the severity of the condition, some patients may require multiple treatment sessions to achieve their desired results.

Rejuvenate Your Skin With ActiveFX™ & DeepFX™ Laser Treatments

Are you experiencing skin damage on your face, chest, or neck? Do those wrinkles, lines, and sunspots make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious? Then laser treatments may be the solution for you. At the Institute of Anti-Aging Medicine and Skin Spa, we offer ActiveFX™ and DeepFX™ laser treatments to rejuvenate your skin and leave you feeling confident, refreshed, and ready to take on the world.

What Is ActiveFX™?

Acne scars are smoothed, sun damage is removed, pores are reduced, and skin is tightened, which improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What Is DeepFX™?

The DeepFX™ laser is similar to the ActiveFX™ laser, but it targets deeper scars, lines, and wrinkles. This process regenerates the underlying tissues to produce new, fresh, and vibrant skin.

When Will I See Results?

Results typically appear within one week after undergoing your laser resurfacing treatment. Some results may be more apparent than others, since some patients have experienced more intense scarring or wrinkles. This may require multiple treatment sessions to fully correct. Over time, your results will start to become more apparent as collagen and elastin are regenerated. Your face, chest, and neck will look firmer and more youthful as time progresses.

How Do I Know if This Is Right for Me?

It is important to schedule a consultation with the professionals at the Institute of Anti-Aging Medicine and Skin Spa to find out if you are a candidate for this skin rejuvenation treatment. In order to maximize your positive outcome, it is important to discuss any allergies or skin conditions with your physician before undergoing these treatments.

Photofacial and Gemini/Yag laser

Most people want clear, smooth skin, but it can be difficult to achieve, even with a healthy lifestyle and skincare routine. IPL (intense pulsed light) photofacial uses a bright light to help reduce the appearance of signs of aging, such as brown spots, melasma, broken capillaries, wrinkles, and other cosmetic imperfections.

Benefits

  • Little to no downtime
  • Results can be long lasting
  • Can be performed on virtually any part of the body

Why Choose The Institute of Anti-Aging Medicine and Skin Spa?

The Institute of Anti-Aging Medicine and Skin Spa was founded in 1997 in Houston, Texas, and has a fully integrated medical spa. Dr. Richard LeConey has developed comprehensive personal anti-aging, wellness, hormone, and skincare programs for both men and women.

Our motto is: “Feel as good as you look, and look as good as you feel.”

We believe that there is simply no reason for you to look or feel your age. We are here to help create personalized treatment plans to help you achieve your aesthetic goals and provide natural-looking rejuvenation.

Why Choose The Institute of Anti-Aging Medicine and Skin Spa?

The best candidates for IPL Photofacial are patients who wish to reduce the appearance of the following aesthetic concerns:

  • Rosacea
  • Brown sun spots
  • Sun damage
  • Wrinkles
  • Uneven texture
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Melasma
  • Age spots
  • Spider veins

How It Works

IPL therapy uses a bright, intense light to heat up the dermis (deeper layer of the skin), stimulating the production of more collagen. Collagen is the protein your body uses to give the skin its structure. The heat also destroys pigment cells, such as melanin, to help remedy uneven pigmentation. During treatment, you may feel mild discomfort, much like a rubber band snapping. The number of sessions required will depend on the size of the treatment site and the condition being addressed. Most patients undergo two to six sessions spaced four weeks apart.

IPL photofacial can also be combined with treatments like laser skin resurfacing or a chemical peel for optimal results.

Our newest state-of-the-art laser is the Stellar M22™ by Lumenis®. This device includes four different modalities, including IPL photofacial with ResurFX™, Nd:YAG for spider veins, and Q-Switch for dark tattoos. We can combine IPL photofacial and ResurFX™ for our PhotoFractional treatment, which helps remove brown and red spots and improve the texture of the skin.

ResurFX™

ResurFX™ is a non-ablative, fractional laser treatment perfect for skin resurfacing in just one pass. The device can use different grid patterns for different purposes, and there is little to no downtime required.

PhotoFractional (Photofacial and ResurFX™ combined)

The combination of these two treatments provides comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Uneven pigmentation, finelines, and textural concerns can all be treated with minimal downtime.

Q-switch for Dark Tattoos

Dark tattoos are often difficult to treat. Q switched lasers are more effective at breaking up dark tattoo ink than traditional laser therapy. Ink particles are broken down so that they can be absorbed and eliminated by the body.

ActiveFX™/ DeepFX™ (CO2 fractional laser)

CO2 fractional laser resurfacing is performed to treat the appearance of sun damage, scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. The laser energy creates microchannels in the skin, stimulating the body’s healing response and the production of new collagen.

Recovery and Results

Immediately following your treatment, you may experience some redness and discomfort similar to a sunburn. These side effects should resolve in 24 to 48 hours. Aftercare instructions should be followed carefully to help ensure optimal results and minimize the risk of complications. Pigmented lesions may appear darker at first and then peel off as your skin heals.

IPL photofacial can provide long-lasting improvement, but it cannot stop the natural aging process. A comprehensive skincare routine and proper sun protection can help prolong your results. Some patients may also decide to undergo maintenance treatments. A personalized treatment and maintenance plan can be discussed during your consultation appointment.

FAQS

The Gemini YAG Laser is a laser used for the treatment of red discolorations and overgrown or broken blood vessels. The
Gemini YAG laser penetrates the dermis and targets water and hemoglobin, making it effective in treating redness and
individual broken capillaries.

The Gemini Laser can treat a wide range of skin types.

Patients taking Accutane should not have this treatment until they have been off the medication for at least 6 months. Retin-A
should be discontinued 4-5 days prior to treatment. Certain antibiotics can cause the skin to be more sensitive to sun and laser
light, making those patients poor candidates. It is best to wait a week to 10 days following treatment to have a laser treatment.
Check with the provider and review any medications you are taking before undergoing laser treatment. Other
contraindications are sun exposure, tanned skin, or artificially tanned skin (including the use of self-tanning lotions). The
provider will determine whether a patient is a candidate before determining the course of treatment. Women who are
pregnant should not be treated with the laser as a general precaution

The skin will appear red and warm to the touch. Swelling can be expected afterwards for 3-5 days. Many of the treated blood
vessels will improve immediately, and will continue to improve over the next 4-6 weeks. Patients with numerous vessels or
with extensive generalized redness, will benefit from multiple treatments.

How It Works

Forma™ is the only auto-adjusting, non-invasive, thermal radio frequency skin treatment. The device uses radio frequency technology to target the deep layers of your skin. The subdermal heating stimulates collagen and improves the skin’s elasticity, resulting in tightened skin and decreased wrinkles. This effective, no-downtime treatment will leave you with tighter skin that will make you look years younger!

Recovery and Results

There is no downtime associated with the Forma™ skin tightening treatment. Some patients may experience slight redness in the treatment area immediately after their procedure, but that should dissipate within a few hours.

To fully notice and experience results, it is recommended that patients undergo a series of treatments. After about eight sessions is when the skin tightening results become most noticeable. Results can last up to a few years with multiple treatments and yearly maintenance.

FAQs

Yes, the Forma™/Forma™Plus can be used in combination with most other laser treatments, facials, and injectables like BOTOX® Cosmetic and JUVÉDERM®.

Patients using Retin-A/Tretinoin, Retinols, glycolic acid, and/or AHA’s/BHA’s should discontinue use 48 hours prior to treatment if they are treating the face, neck and/or chest.

Patients treating the face and/or neck can resume use of their normal skin care regimen 24 hours after treatment.

Acne

Acne doesn’t discriminate. No matter your age, gender, or race, acne can affect anyone at any time. Acne treatments at Institute of Antiaging Center are for people who want to avoid going on Accutane due to its serious side effects. All your acne needs can be met in one place, from your initial assessment to a customized treatment plan that includes treating your acne scars. If you have scars resulting from acne, we can help with those too. Institute of Antiaging Center has quickly moved to the forefront as the first choice of laser technology to treat acne scars. We have a variety of lasers to choose from based on your particular needs that can be used alone or combined for the best outcome.
